Is the revaluation by a Notified Body mandatory for an LPG tank?
LPG transport tanks designed and built according to the European agreement for the road transport of dangerous goods (ADR) can be re-evaluated by a Notified Body but this operation is not mandatory.
In case of re-evaluation, a Notified Body releases new documentation and any other Notified Body can provide for subsequent periodic reviews.
In case, the tank has not been re-evaluated and the documentation maintained original, periodic reviews would remain under the responsibility of the Bodies that carried out the first test.
The case is different for tanks built according to the “old “national standards which gave a period of possible use up to 25 years from the date of construction. This term has now expired, as since 1997 all constructions must be in accordance with the ADR.
