Why do some LPG tanks have a sunshade shield?

The LPG transport tanks are designed and built according to the regulations of the different countries where they will be used.

The heat protection, also known as sunshade shield, has the purpose of reducing the heating of the transported product due to the sun’s rays, thanks to the distance of a few centimetres between the protection and the upper part of the tank. Usually, it is mandatory in very hot areas (Africa, Arab countries etc.).

In Europe, the design and construction of tank vehicles is regulated by the ADR which establishes different technical standards depending on the presence or absence of the roof.

The designer, according to the size and use of the tanker, establishes when it is appropriate to provide heat protection.
